If you need mobile truck repair in Virginia, Neuman Truck Service answers the phone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. We send a fully outfitted service truck to wherever your truck is sitting. That can be a contractor yard, a customer lot off Highway 135 or a safe pull-off along US-53. We're based in Pine City on I-35, and Virginia and the eastern Iron Range are part of our regular coverage area.

What matters most is who answers at 2 AM. A driver stuck on the Range on a January night needs somebody who answers the phone. That driver also needs a mechanic who arrives with the right parts and doesn't leave on a parts run after one look. So tell us what the truck is doing when you call. The better the description, the better stocked the service truck is when it rolls north. Every job starts with an estimate and carries a 12-month warranty.

Highways We Cover Around Virginia

US-53 is the main line through Virginia and carries freight between Duluth and the border country to the north. On the south side of town, it crosses the Rouchleau Pit on the Thomas Rukavina Memorial Bridge, which opened in 2017. The bridge is about 1,100 feet long and more than 200 feet above the pit. It replaced the old alignment, which had to make way for mining at United Taconite. A truck that loses air or blows a tire on the bridge or its approaches must limp to a safe spot first. We come to it there, and our truck tire repair service covers steer, drive and trailer tires on the spot.

US-169 ends in Virginia at US-53, and west of town it runs as the Cross Range Expressway toward Mountain Iron, Hibbing and Grand Rapids. The stretch between Mountain Iron and Virginia now runs farther south, to make room for U.S. Steel's mining. North of town, Highway 169 continues as a state route toward Tower and Ely, and MN-135 heads east to Gilbert. Those are long, quiet roads after dark, when a dead alternator or a cracked air line becomes a real problem. That's why we answer our emergency truck repair line around the clock. Check 511mn.org for closures and plow updates before you drive the Range in bad weather.

Serving Virginia Fleets

Virginia is the commercial center for this end of the Mesabi Range, and most of the freight here connects to iron ore. U.S. Steel's Minntac operation sits next door in Mountain Iron, and United Taconite works the ground between Virginia and Eveleth. That brings contractor dump trucks, fuel and lube trucks, crane-equipped service bodies, and lowboys hauling equipment in and out of the plants. Those trucks spend time on rough haul and access roads that are hard on suspension parts. Leaf springs, torque rods, air bags and shock mounts all wear faster than they would on highway miles. U-joints and carrier bearings take a beating too.

A lot of the work around the mines is hydraulic: dump hoists, wet kits, crane controls and PTO-driven pumps. A burst hose on a contractor truck stops the job as surely as a dead engine. Our hydraulic repair service replaces hose and fittings where the truck sits. Add the grocery, fuel and freight trucks that keep a regional center stocked. The result is a mix of equipment that rewards a mechanic who works on more than one kind of truck.

Winter Breakdowns on the Iron Range

Winter in Virginia is long, and trucks that sit outside overnight are the ones that give trouble at first light. The first problems are weak batteries and tired alternators. Then comes gelled fuel in trucks that didn't get winter blend or additive in time. Air dryers whose cartridges needed a change in the fall let moisture through to freeze in lines and valves. When a truck won't build air, or the cab is dark and the engine cranks slow, we start at the batteries and charging system. Our truck electrical repair work follows the fault from there.

DEF freezes too, so trucks have heaters to thaw the tank and lines. When a heater or a heated line fails, the truck derates and you're done for the day. Our aftertreatment and DPF repair covers DEF heaters, dosers, NOx sensors and SCR faults on-site. Spring brings its own headache when frost leaves the ground and MnDOT posts load restrictions. In 2026, the North zone's restrictions ran into mid-May, later than the rest of the state. MnDOT's seasonal load limits page lists the dates.

How Much Does Mobile Truck Repair Cost in Virginia?

We can't put a number on a repair without knowing what's wrong. Travel is part of every mobile repair, and we'll explain it when you call. The price also depends on the parts the job needs and any special equipment. Diagnostic time for an electrical or aftertreatment fault counts, and so does an after-hours call.

You get an estimate before any work starts, so the expected cost is on the table before a wrench turns. All repairs and maintenance carry a 12-month warranty, and we take credit and debit cards on-site.

About Virginia, MN

Virginia is a city of 8,421 people (2020 census) in St. Louis County, on the Mesabi Iron Range in northeastern Minnesota. It sits beside Silver Lake and Bailey Lake and is the commercial center for the surrounding Range towns. Essentia Health runs a medical center here that serves much of the central Iron Range. The city's official nickname is the Queen City of the North.

The town grew on iron mining, and the mines still shape the map. In 2017, US-53 moved to a new route over the Rouchleau Pit. It is the clearest example of how Range roads move when the mines need the ore underneath them.
