Highways We Cover Around Owatonna

  • I-35
  • US-14
  • US-218

Owatonna is a crossroads. I-35 runs north and south past town, and on the southern edge it meets US-14 at a cloverleaf interchange. US-218 also comes through town and shares the US-14 interchange with I-35. North of town, the County Road 9 exit serves Clinton Falls and the Cabela's store. The next exits north are Medford and then Faribault.

US-14 is the road that changed the most in recent years. According to MnDOT's Highway 14 project page, the new four-lane route between Owatonna and Dodge Center opened on November 9, 2021. That 12.5-mile stretch used to be two lanes. It finished a continuous four-lane highway from Mankato to Rochester, so more freight now runs east and west through Owatonna instead of around it. Trucks heading south on I-35 toward Albert Lea pass the Clarks Grove weigh station, a bad place to discover a brake or lighting problem. Our DOT inspection service catches those before the scale does.

Serving Owatonna Fleets

Owatonna has a stronger manufacturing base than its size suggests. Federated Insurance is the largest employer, but Viracon, which makes architectural glass, is close behind with more than 1,400 workers. Bosch, Jostens, Daikin, Wenger and Cybex International also run major operations here. Glass, HVAC equipment and other finished goods leave town by truck, and raw materials come in the same way.

Heavy, high-value freight like that is hard on suspensions. It also puts a premium on trucks that don't break down mid-delivery. Air bags, leaf springs and torque rods wear faster under loads that sit high and heavy, and our suspension repair handles them on-site. Newer tractors also depend heavily on electronics, so truck electrical repair and module diagnostics are a big part of the work.

Winter Breakdowns in Owatonna

The farmland around Owatonna is flat and open, and in winter the wind blows snow straight across I-35 and US-14. Visibility drops, trucks slow, and engines spend long stretches idling in poor conditions. That's hard on aftertreatment, because a DPF that can't regen at highway speed fills with soot. Our aftertreatment and DPF repair covers forced regens on-site, and we also replace sensors and clean dosers there.

Cold soaks bring the usual list too: weak batteries, gelled fuel, frozen air lines and stuck brake valves. One review describes how we guided a driver through an air brake problem by phone. Sometimes a phone call is enough to get you moving. If it isn't, we come to the truck.

How Much Does Mobile Truck Repair Cost in Owatonna?

Travel is a real part of the cost for any mobile call. Beyond that it depends on the repair, the parts and any special equipment the job needs. Diagnostic time and after-hours calls count too.

Whatever the job, you'll get an estimate first and know the expected cost before work starts. All repairs and maintenance carry a 12-month warranty, and we take credit and debit cards.
